Why is it that the Disney Channel does not influence our children African American Black? It seems that every successful Disney Channel Icon are white. Since its inception, beginning with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera to Today's Miley Cyrus, Ashley Tidsdale, Selena, Vannessa Hudgens, and the list goes on and on. I am an African American mother and I have a very beautiful talented daughter interested in becoming a day in the black version of Miley Cyrus. I encourage her to fulfill her dreams and make it a reality one day and I have nothing but good things to say to my daughter because I want to make her feel inferior to the white race if I point out to her how I feel about the Disney Channel. I prefer to keep the reality of how I feel about her dreams as one day be part of the Disney Channel family of myself, but basically I think that Disney does not seem interested in our species on the basis of what I see in their programs. They have the power to make any girl famous and successful, almost an idol, but again and again chose a girl who never an African-American Caucasian. Seldom have blacks in their shows and the shows are not the main characters. Be Cuervo became successful, but she's half white and so did Corbin Bleu and is also half white, nothing against interracial children its just that I'm talking about pure black, that girls can be an inspiration to other black girls . I dont have much to look at them, if BET see everything you see is half naked women dancing are sexually explicit, insulting and fighting over a man, or claiming to love a man with money, etc. If you look at everything MTV what will actually show the peple drinking, cursing and fighting. In VH1 she looks the same as Tiffany (New York, I Love New York), a new reality show, and we all know that is someone who does not want our black daughters to seek God forbid! I mean, it's so bad that even Black girls like my daughter is looking for Miley Cyrus and thats because who else is there so he could see up on the Disney Channel when that is the hotter the most popular television station for preteens and adolescents, regardless of race. Is there any way I can get that message to the Disney Channel?
